Gerald S. McMackin, Q.C., is a senior partner in the Saint John office of Stewart McKelvey, Atlantic Canada’s largest law firm. He practises corporate/commercial law and also carries out an extensive practice in estate planning/administration law. He is counsel to a number of family-owned Saint John based companies and is currently a director of Coast Tire & Auto Service Ltd.
Gerry graduated from Rothesay Collegiate School in 1965. He was appointed to the RNS board in 1975 and continues to serve as a governor. He sat on the executive committee and was secretary of the board for many years and later was chairman of the school from 1993 to1997. He was named a Founder of RNS in 2018. Gerry and his wife Lynn’s three children all graduated from RNS.
Gerry has been involved in many other charitable and community activities during his career including serving as a councillor for the Town of Rothesay for nine years, President of the Union Club and a director of the Wiggins Home. He has also been very active in the Greater Saint John Community Foundation, having served on its board for 12 years in various capacities, and is currently its honourary counsel. From 2002 to 2008 he served as the only representative from the Atlantic Provinces on the Community Foundations of Canada board of directors.
He has been awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal and the Paul Harris Fellowship Award in recognition of his community service.
