Overview
Reporting to the Director of Food and Housekeeping Services, the Hospitality Manager oversees all aspects of hospitality operations for special events while providing leadership and support to the Housekeeping team. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, teams, staff, and visitors to RNS.
The Hospitality Manager is responsible for the effective management of housekeeping operations, special event services, staffing, inventory, and departmental budgets. The role ensures exceptional customer service, seamless event execution, and compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standards across campus. Through strong leadership, organization, and attention to detail, the Hospitality Manager contributes to an outstanding experience for everyone at RNS.
Key Responsibilities
Hospitality Operations and Compliance
- Oversee the daily operations of the Housekeeping department, ensuring all campus facilities meet established cleanliness and presentation standards.
- Coordinate hospitality operations and housekeeping services for special events to ensure efficient execution and a high-quality guest experience.
- Ensure all staff comply with health, safety, sanitation, and workplace regulations, as well as RNS policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections of campus facilities to ensure cleanliness, identify maintenance concerns, and maintain quality standards.
- Manage the Housekeeping department budget, monitor expenditures, and maintain appropriate inventory levels of cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Ensure housekeeping activities are accurately documented, including completed work, maintenance requests, and reports of damage or safety concerns.
- Monitor the condition of housekeeping equipment and arrange for routine maintenance and repairs as required.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, hire, onboard, train, supervise, coach, and evaluate housekeeping staff, bartenders, and servers.
- Develop and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage for daily operations and special events.
- Lead, motivate, and support team members while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and exceptional service.
Events Support and Customer Orientation
- Collaborate with other departments to support campus operations, conferences, tournaments, and special events.
- Oversee the ordering, receiving, storage, and inventory control of bar supplies, including alcoholic beverages, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and related items.
- Promote a positive, professional, and customer-focused environment that enhances the experience of students, staff, visitors, and guests.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience in housekeeping management, hospitality, or a related service environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, motivating, and developing high-performing teams.
- Proven ability to manage departmental budgets, monitor expenditures, and control operating costs.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with a strong commitment to customer service and team leadership.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness, quality, and operational excellence.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other workplace technology; experience with scheduling or hospitality management software is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations, sanitation standards, and housekeeping best practices.
- Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, and a commitment to upholding RNS's values, standards, and reputation.
